Blog update-Aug, Sept, Oct

Ok, So I haven't been very good at our blog this year so I thought I would make a slideshow to show how the months of September, October, November and December went for us this year. My sister Shannon came to visit us in September with her 2 cute kids. It has been quite the year. In October we started my Travel assignment to Texas and have been staying with my sister in law and brother in law every 6 days or so. We are so grateful to them. We spent thanksgiving in Texas and of course went Black friday shopping the day after. This Christmas holiday we are grateful for our savior, our families and our blessings.

Proud to live in McAlester

That may seem like an odd post title, but even Kristin would agree with me today.
Let me explain. On November 4, 2010, Sgt. Jason McCluskey of McAlester was killed by enemy gunfire in Afghanistan. The church of "idiots who hate" (the Hillsboro Baptist Church from Kansas) came to protest the funeral. The good citizens of McAlester were not having any of that, so we beat them at their own game. We excercised our right to peacefully assemble, unfortunatley for them, there were so many of us, there was no room for them - they had to gather blocks from the church, American Flags blocked them from the site of the grieving family, and anytime they tried to start a chant, Harley Davidson engines would rev, drowning them out.
Unfortunately, my Church responsibilities prevented me from being able to go, but I sent my Flags with the gals from my office (the girls, and my flags, were on the news, so I'm almost, almost famous!).
Anyway, here are some photos of the event. I sure am proud of how we handled ourselves, it was a moving experience, even if only through pictures.
God bless America. Don't tread on me.

Watch out Runners...

The Tulsa Driller's Game

Sometime in August we invited some friends from Law school to a Tulsa Driller's Game. We left all the kids with a babysitter and had a night at the ballpark. It was a lot of fun, even though the Driller's lost. Chuck even made friends with the Mascot. Yes he is eating Chuck's Mike and Ike's.

Carter's First Day of Preschool

Carter started a 2 day a week preschool in August. This is the picture of his first day.

24th of July

A family in our ward hosted a 24th of July celebration. Carter loved the hay ride. I think we rode it everytime that they had it. It was a great day.

August Visitors.

I am trying to catch up my blog posts this week. So this is the first of many summer, fall posts...
My sister and her husband came to visit us on their move to the east coast. It was fun to have them. We hiked around Robbers Cave and Heather tried to teach me how to decorate a cake. Carter even called Uncle Bryce "Grandpa" mostly. It was a lot of fun. We hope they come back to visit us soon.

Three year old picture

Look closely at the shorts.

Yes, this is a video of the man of the house mowing the lawn. What it doesn't show is that just minutes before jumping on the riding lawn mower this same man carefully ironed the shorts he is wearing. Yes, he did iron these particular short to mow the lawn? Is this strange to anyone except me?

July 12-17

My parents made the long trek to the middle of nowhere to visit us. It was very nice to have them. Carter loved wrestling with "Grandpa". We had a picnic and went hiking one day. Carter just wanted to look at the muddy river for fishes. It was a nice visit. Thank you for coming

The Circus

Last week the circus was in town. I know shocking even in the middle of nowhere the circus will come and ALL the rednecks will be out for the fun (I hope I haven't been classifed as a redneck now since we went to the circus). Carter loved the elephants, but wouldn't ride one even though we bought tickets too. This was the first time any of us had ever been to the circus and now we know why. It was fun to see the tigers, cammels, ponys and motorcycle riders. They even had a clown that was kind of cute. Carter even liked all the dog tricks. Enjoy the pictures.

Swimming, well not so much

Summer fun.

This summer I have been really bad updating our blog so here is my attempt to update it so far. One night for family home evening we took Carter to feed the ducks. There are ducks at a small park next to the Cemetary in town so off we went. Carter loved throwing the bread and chasing the ducks and didn't want to leave.

Father's Day Wish

This Father's Day weekend, please visit Wendy's and purchase a Frosty. You can also go to www.frostycard.com and buy and e-card. This weekend, fifty cents from each Frosty or e-card purchased will be donated to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, to be put toward finding a home for over 123,000 young Americans awaiting adoption.
It will be a great way to do something good with very little effort on your part, who knows? You might even enjoy your Frosty - plus you'd be helping very deserving children, just like our sweet Carter.
It would make me very happy.

My boys

I love my boys. I think they are the best and the cutest in all the world. Sorry to the rest of you. I am lucky to have them. But I have learned to share a little bit anyway.
