Thank You Aunt Karen

Over Christmas we ended up in the Dallas area to visit Aunt Karen, Uncle Ben and the cousins. Of course, we forgot to pack any bibs for Carter so we were able to borrow some from Aunt Karen. We thought they were such cool bibs and thought one day we might make our own. Well thanks to Aunt Karen we don't have to. Thank you for making Carter some cute bibs. As you can see they work nicely and he actually enjoys wearing them.

Historical Day

Politics aside, today is truly a happy day for us. We are thrilled about what today represents to us, to minorities, to Americans, and most importantly, our precious little son. We feel truly blessed to live in a nation that collectively said: "We aren't concerned with the color of your skin - we want you to lead us". We weren't sure we would see this day in our lifetimes.
How lucky we are to live in this land, at this time! It is a miracle and a blessing that we were even allowed to adopt Carter, as little as 20-30 years ago, the laws of most states did not allow it. But fortunately, we as a people have progressed. Of course, we aren't where we want to be, individuals aren't perfect and we are still flawed. But collectively, as a nation today offers so much hope to the hopeless. We will always be able to point back to this time as a time of inspiration and hope. Whenever Carter may feel like the world seems to be a little harder for him (anyone who thinks it won't be, offense intended - you don't know what you're talking about), but when times get rough for him, how blessed to have today to look to. Today says that a person, with different color skin can rise up, can become all that he/she dreams. What a great day - God bless America!

The Last, First Day

January 12, 2009 was the first day of the last semester of law school. The last first day ever for Chuck and school! What a GREAT day!

Carters Room

When you have a child biologically, you get 40 weeks of excited anticipation. Plenty of time to create a nice room to welcome the baby home.
When you adopt, you get no time, first you wait for years, so you don't make a baby room, cause it makes you sad when you walk by it, then one day you get a phone call - your baby is here, if you're willing to make the financial and emotional sacrifice, then maybe, just maybe, you can bring him home.
Anyway, you don't have much time to create a nice room. So you keep thinking, we'll make his room nice, any day now. Before you know it - he's almost two, and still no great kid room for the poor guy. Well not anymore! Here is Carters' brand new room (and by brand new, we mean absolutely, brand new!)

Christmas

This Year Santa found our house. Last Year Home Depot Santa found our house and left a generator (because of the stupid ice storm). This year, Toys R Us Santa found us. We like Toys R Us Santa lots better (except for Chuck, but he doesn't really count.)
