Buddies

Carter loves his friend Lauren. My friend Mylinda and her daughter saved the day today and rescued Chuck when our babysitter cancelled. Chuck placed Carter in one chair and Lauren in the other chair. After turning on Sesame Street he found that Carter had climbed over the table to sit by Lauren. Isn't it cute!

I don't know if you are able to see in these pictures that Carter is holding himself up on the table. I was in the kitchen trying to do dishes quickly before we went to the store and I heard Carter fussing. So I went around the corner and saw him holding onto the table, feet up in the air and unhappy nosies from his mouth, but he sure looked cute. The climbing phase has begun.

Jacket?

Chuck has this bad habit of taking off his suit jacket and laying it on the couch after work, school. Carter decided to test it out tonight. He soon realized he didn't care for it much, especially after he saw the camera, he wanted the camera more.

You know that awful day...

When you realize, you've turned into your parent? I had that today, I was talking to my Dad about the upcoming gift giving season (in my family, most the birthdays are from Oct to Dec, plus Christmas). He was getting pre-emptively upset about his birthday (Sat. Oct. 18th) saying that nobody had better spend their money to buy him anything, or he'd be real mad - note to all my Utah relatives, take him a gift, it's worth it to see him get mad! So as I was half listening to him and plotting how I would give him a gift, it occurred to me; besides really expensive stuff nobody would ever buy for me, all I really want for Christmas: Shirts and ties, same as Dad! It was horrible. But, I guess it happens, poor Carter, it's happening sooner for him. When I get home from work, I take off my tie immediately - and he usually puts it right on.

Oh the adventures of toddlerhood...

I guess you could say that Carter has started to move out of his baby phase and into toddlerhood..possibly terrible 2 stage. I know, shocking, Carter....terrible, but he's so cute. Last night before bed Carter and I decided to play with his favorite laundry basket. He found himself in the basket, I pulled him around the house for a while and then he decided to sit down. Next he decided he could get back up and realized he couldn't get up. He didn't like that, so I tipped the basket over for him. He escaped and ran away (as the pictures show). The last picture is of Carter cuddling his yet to be name teddy bear. I sure have a great time with him.

Health Care a Right?

Obama just said that he considers health care to be a right (as opposed to McCain who said it was a responsibility). My question is, how does he (Obama) determines who gets rights and who doesn't?
In the Declaration of Independence the founding fathers said: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness"
So the Doctor who spends 8 years going through school, and however longer in a residency, finally gets through and sets up shop with the hope of paying off his student loans and providing for his family, under Obama, this Doctor has no rights, the patient will say "I want this treatment" the Doctor says, "this treatment costs me X to provide to you, and you can't/won't pay it", the patient says "who cares, it's my right, ask Obama" so my question to Obama: What about the Doctors' rights? Or is it the Doctor's fault for being a Doctor?

The VP Debate

So I'm watching the VP debate, as usual the Democrats tendency to talk down to me is ticking me off. But what made me mad enough to blog?? Biden just said that he wants bankruptcy courts to be able to adjust the Principle on the loans of people in bankruptcy - not just the interest!! How stupid does he think I am?? Out of one side of his mouth he is claiming to be helping the middle class (the tax cuts that I still have no idea how they will afford it), then out of the other side he is saying: "you good, hard-working honest people who pay your bills on time & thus have good credit & avoid bankruptcy proceedings - we aren't going to help you at all, but those who are irresponsible, who borrowed more than they could afford, we'll go ahead & lower thier principle!" What the hell???? So I get punished for paying on time? I have to pay full price for my home (that I can afford) and you who can't afford it, we'll go ahead and lower the principle, let you stay in your home, and increase your profit when you sell!! What's next - people with poor credit pay less for the same home then people who have good credit? Oh wait, we're there, next they get to pay less for cars than I do, maybe they should pay less a gallon than me? Where does this end??
