Thanks for nothing Harry! I hope you're happy, you have succeeding in punishing the productive yet again. For a special Christmas treat this week, I got a notice from my insurance company:
"Premiums for your plan will increase 23.7% effective January 1, 2010"!!!
The insurance company said that they were forced to raise premiums because: "suppport for government programs for the poor and elderly which provide limited reimbursements, are shifted to the insured market"
Good job liberals. You have really convinced yourselves that the evil rich people of the world have the assignment to fund your single-payer dream. FYI, if you take 23.7% of my income, I fall well below the federal poverty income levels, but I'm sure I deserve this, after all, I am the jerk who got a job, paid for my own schooling and buy my groceries without any food stamps, I definitely deserve to be saddled with this additional cost. And no, it's not just my insurance carrier, believe me, we shopped around, we're sticking with the one we have because it is actually the smallest increase, State-wide the average increase is 27%.
Many of my Liberal and Democrat friends have said they wouldn't mind paying more to give everybody else insurance. Here's your chance.
It is actually to my financial benefit to stop working and stop paying at this point. In a million years I never thought I'd say that. But just consider: if I'm not working, I have no insurance, no fear - Reid & Obama will punish the jerks who are working, they will pay for my health coverage, my house payment? Well, I won't make it, once bankruptcy proceedings begin, I can get the principle lowered, Obama & Barney Frank are already putting pressure on banks to loan to people who can't afford it again (the same things that got us into this mess!), so it will be nothing to get a new loan & keep my home, after all, his Highness says it's a right, healthcare is a right. So no need to keep working, all the things I thought were privileges that I had to earn the intellectually superior have determined that I don't need to work for them I should be given them, I'm alive, no need to do anything else! Happy freakin Holidays

Just in case you think your rant is falling a deaf ears, I want you to know I am with you. Thanks for saying what so many of us are feeling. We have a 10,000 deductible policy (which has never paid a dime) and it still costs a fortune. Hopefully, sometime people will wake up at least they are stirring right now! Keep posting and I will keep forwarding.
Wait it gets better! See right now under EMTALA we already have universal healthcare (people just don't realize it or think it is enough). Now when this new plan comes into play all that cost shifting is going to increase (we'll run with your insurance company's estimate) 23%! Now all those people who were paying and covering the cost shift of those that are not paying or not paying a significant amount of their enormous bills will no longer be able to pay! That means the hospital will run in the red, unless it already is, and will either 1) shut-down or 2) get subsidized. So now we can have MORE EXPENSIVE healthcare AND less available healthcare.... way to go dems... looking out for... someone....
I'm going to forward your blog to all my buddies. Well said. Our insurance is changing this next year too. No, the premium is NOT going up. Does that sound good? Well, it's not going up because THE BENEFITS ARE BEING CUT! We're moving from a low-deductiblae 80/20 plan to a HIGH deductibel 70/30 plan. All in the name of PROGRESS
I am more than happy to pay higher premiums if it means that my mom can continue to recieve dialysis (she is in kidney failure caused by diabetes) through medicaid and medicare. It's a small price to pay for a life.
And just so you know, my mom did go to college and worked until she was no longer able to due to health reasons. You have very harsh things to say about these government run programs now, but wait until you need them and they are keeping you alive. My guess is that you'll feel very differently about all of this at that point.
